Church of the Highlands · Riverchase

Dream
Team.

This is your house now.

"God puts a call on people's lives — and when they answer it, something shifts. You felt that. Something in you stirred, and you said yes. That yes was not an accident. You were made for this. I get to — not I have to. Welcome to the Riverchase Dream Team. We are so glad you're here."

— Elizabeth Farr, Dream Team Director
What we believe

Four things that
drive everything.

Love God

We begin and end with Him. We worship one and serve one. We pray first.

Love People

Every person is a life worth serving. People over policy. Find a way to say yes.

Pursue Excellence

Not perfection — the relentless pursuit of better. We go above and beyond.

Choose Joy

Joy is a decision. We bring energy to every environment. Intentionally approachable.

Culture is driven from conviction. Expressed through language. Revealed through behavior.

We say

Words matter here.

The language we use shapes the culture we build. This is how we talk about what we do.

Get connected

Two apps. Both essential.

Slack is how we communicate. The Highlands App keeps you connected to the church.

Your First
Serve.

No normal serve. Your first one is designed — from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

What to expect

Here's how
the morning goes.

1

You're met at the door

A Support Team member will be there watching for you — by name. You won't walk in wondering where to go or who to find. Someone is already looking for you.

Arrive 10 minutes before Rally. Rally time depends on your service — check the schedule on the Your House page.
2

Coffee at the Café

Before anything else, you sit down over coffee. Real conversation — just you and someone who's genuinely glad you're here.

3

Rally at DTC

DTC — Dream Team Central — is your home base every Sunday. Rally is where the whole team gathers before service. About 10 minutes: devotional, vision, energy. You'll be there with your Support teammate.

Glossary: DTC = Dream Team Central. Where you check in, attend Rally, and close out after service.
4

Campus Tour

Coffee in hand, you walk the campus as it comes alive. See the rooms, feel the energy, get a sense of the house before it fills.

5

Meet Your Team

You're walked to your team and introduced to your team leader in person. By name. With warmth. You belong here before you've done a single thing.

6

Serve Alongside Your Team

An experienced teammate is right there with you the whole service. You're not on your own — you're learning alongside someone who's done this and loves it.

7

DTC Debrief + Welcome Gift

You come back together at DTC. Prayer as a team. A welcome gift waiting for you. And before you leave, your next serve is stated out loud — so it's real, and so you know you're already part of this.

It all matters. This is how we make it feel that way from day one.

Parking.

Your team leader will show you where to park on your first Sunday. The one thing to know before you get there: we always leave the closest spots for guests. That's not a rule — it's just who we are.

want to know.

Words you'll hear
right away.

Highlands has its own vocabulary. Here's the cheat sheet.

DTC

Rally
Pre-service gathering for the whole Dream Team. About 10 minutes — devotional and vision. Be there.
Huddle

Growth Track
Highlands' three-step process for membership, discovering your gifts, and finding your team. You just finished it.
HK
Highlands Kids — children's ministry from birth through 4th grade.
DISC
Personality assessment from Step 2 of Growth Track. Shows you how God wired you and how you work best with others.
Fish Bowl
The multipurpose room near the HK Entrance. Used for overflow, classes, and events.
How we show up

Dress standard,
not dress code.

Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly — as if working for the Lord. How we show up on the outside reflects the care we have for the people we're serving.

"Am I setting a good example? Does this let me serve comfortably and confidently?"

Men

  • Neat, ironed shirt
  • Dress pants or clean jeans
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • No shorts, graphic tees, or wrinkled clothes

Women
